With this in mind, our latest home improvement took us just nine miles east of Nottingham to the petite market town of Bingham.
Thanks to its variable low-pitched roof, lean-to conservatories have become a popular addition in homes that encounter limited room under the eaves, like small terraced houses and bungalows. The lean-to's simple, clean lines also make it an incredibly cost-effective option that most budgets can comfortably achieve.
With this in mind, our latest home improvement took us just nine miles east of Nottingham to the petite market town of Bingham.
The owners of this quaint terraced cottage were in need of extra space, but were not sure of the most suitable structure, considering the restricted space under the eaves. Bingham boasts a proud rural heritage with a sizeable Conservation Area that contains 24 Listed Buildings or structures, so they also sought our expertise regarding planning permissions.
Staying within the parameters of permitted development, planning permission was not required in this instance. However, the need for the new structure to naturally blend with the traditional surroundings remained, so calming cream coloured frames were chosen. Particularly popular in rural areas, cream hues look especially inviting paired alongside charming red brickwork and light stone combination such as these.
Slim, efficient, and long-lasting, the role of aluminium is becoming increasingly prominent within the heritage glazing sector and is often approved for use in conservation areas by local authorities. Striking the right balance between light and space was crucial, so the full-length glazing and innovative ventilation options both aluminium tilt and turn windows and French doors present made them the ideal choice for this improvement project.
It’s clear to see why lean-to conservatories are also known as sunrooms, garden rooms and Mediterranean conservatories.
For the ultimate thermally-sound finishing touch, we combined the industry leading Ultraframe lean-to roof with high-performance Ultra 86 roof glazing, supported by highly-insulative windows and doors. Subtly enhancing the space whilst adding considerable value, this family can now look forward to decades of enjoyment, come rain or shine.
